Sarah Jo grew up in rural and agricultural towns in Southern California and in Northeastern Arizona. Raising livestock and cutting and selling firewood with her family fueled her curiosity in the interface between natural resources and the economy. She went through community college and graduated with honors from UC Berkeley with a BS in Environmental Economics and Policy. Sarah Jo has contributed to the research and design of California’s 2006 climate policy and has worked on climate policy design at federal and international levels while at Resources for the Future in Washington, D.C. Sarah Jo also spent two years concerned with another resource; the potential of young people. She contributed to Year Up Bay Area by managing their community college, volunteer and community service programs for young adult students at Year Up.
